The Instruction God Gives Luke 11: 9

click to Read the passage: Luke 11  (a new browser window will open)

(And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find;
knock, and it shall be opened unto you.)

1. Asking is the basis of receiving.

2. Giving is God’s part.
Giving is permissible and permittable.

3. Receiving is not the result of negotiation or of encumbrance.
Then it would cease to be grace.

4. Seeking is a heart commitment to discover God’s answer.

5. Seeking is with certainty of finding.
God will help the believer find.

6. Knocking is a petition that is without certainty of the response of the one
besought.
One knows God is available, but not necessarily God’s answer.
Still the privilege to knock is granted and acknowledged.

7. The door opening is God’s part.
Freedom accompanies the opened door.
