The Message to be Carried On Joshua 4 24

Read the passage: Joshua 4

(That all the people of the  earth might know the hand of the Lord, that it is
mighty: that ye might fear the Lord your God for ever.)

1. There is but one God of all the earth; all men must answer to Him.

2. There is no foe that can contend with God.

3. To oppose God is to be foolish, to fail, and to forfeit life with Him forever.

4. Only God’s hand is mighty; God’s might is redemptive, is right, is with
honor for all of eternity.

5. God is to be feared by His people.

6. God is to be feared by all the earth.

7. All of God’s creation is a fitting testimony to His power and mighty hand.
Men should read the message before them all the time.

Withholding Not Good Proverbs 3 27

Read the passage: Proverbs 3

(Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it.)
God’s hand is a generous hand.

1. Goodness is God’s reward to His people.

2. Goodness is to be shared by God’s people.

3. Become aware of God’s goodness in your own life.
List evidence of God’s goodness.

4. Be attentive to those around you who are due goodness.
(them to whom it is due,)
examples:   a faithful servant, an obedient child, a volunteer, a quiet work,
                    people not motivated by reward
people not motivated by recognition of man

5. Know what constitutes goodness.
(good)
It may be remuneration.  It may be a note of thanks.
It may be a gift that says I love you.
It may be some of your time.
It may be Godly encouragement, prayer for.

6. Recognize the opportunity you have to share God’s goodness.
(them to whom it is due, when it is in  the power of thine hand to do it.)
Relationship with: a family member, a co worker, a friend, an employee
                                one under authority

7. Don’t  withhold God’s goodness.
(withhold not good)

What Does It Mean to be Free? John 11: 43, 44; 12: 1-11

Read the passage: John 11

Read the passage: John 12

The responsibility of seeing and benefiting from God’s power.

v.43 1. Right response has been made to what Jesus has declared.
(Lazarus , come forth.)
                It encourages a believer's attentiveness.

v. 44 2. Past dead deeds have no present hold.
(And he that was dead come forth, ...)
The wonder of God's forgiveness, release, and restoration is received.                                                     It encourages a believer's faith.

v.44 3. Life with liberty is Christ's gifted provision.
(...Loose him, and let him go.)
The liberty to be all Jesus wants us to be.
The liberty to fit in to His great plan for our life.
The liberty of free grace.
                It encourages a believer's partaking.

12: 4. There is a unique understanding and assurance of the person of Christ.
1, 2 (...but Lazarus was one of them that sat at the table with him.)
It results in intimate fellowship with Jesus.

v.9, 5. Unprecedented opportunity is given to witness of the power of Christ.
11 (...but that they might see Lazarus also, whom he had raised from the
dead.)(Because that by reason of him many of the Jews went away, and
believed on Jesus.)
It allows others to benefit from Christ's message.

v.10, 6. It also brings fellowship with Christ's sufferings.
11 (that they might put Lazarus also to death; ...)
It allows the formation of Christ's character within.

7. The fellowship of His sufferings brings the privileges of His victory.
the victory of the cross.

The Message of God 2 Kings 9: 3-10, 14-37

Read the passage: 2 Kings 9

vs.3 1) Uniquely inspired.
        (Thus saith the Lord)
God gives unique inspiration to His message.
There is no one else possessing such a characteristic.
No other source has this unique ability.
God can create just by his words.
This fact alone makes it God's message.
There are other facts as well. But only God's words are uniquely inspired.

Man's words do not bear the inspiration of God's words.
II Peter 1:2l--holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.
The creation story reveals unique inspiration of God's words.
God has uniquely inspired many messages in his Holy Word--all which are therein
  God has inspired.
God uniquely presents himself as God.

If man were to originate the same words they would seem presumptuous and meaningless; but
what God states has grandeur and majesty and honor and glory.

That is why it is so important as believers that we declare God's message alone.

vs.3 2) Divinely given.
        (Thus saith the Lord)
The message is given by God.
It may be delivered by God's servant, but it is God’s message.

Only God has the proper wisdom necessary in the giving of his messages.
Only God knows how to use accurately the limitless power in his messages.
Only God knows how to be absolutely fair to every person.

Only God can say what God says. Man just carries out God's words.
If man says something God didn't say, then it falls to the ground.
(test of a prophet)

vs.4-6 3) Timely delivered.
        (when he came ••• )
Right time for house of Ahab, Joram, and Ahaziah to be delivered into God's  plan.
God has an appropriate time for His message to be delivered.
God has an appropriate message for all of time.

God knows in a nation's life, in a church's life, in a believer's life, in a believer's
family, when is the appropriate time to deliver His message.
God has it delivered at the appropriate time.
God has a uniquely inspired message to fit that appropriate time; not just message, but a fitting
        one.

vs.6 4) Absolutely (undiminished) empowered, by God's anointing.
(Thus saith the Lord God of Israel: I have anointed thee king over the people of the Lord, even
        over Israel)

God grants absolute power to accomplish the carrying out of His message.
God's message is never filled with words which fall to the ground. Isa. 55:11

God's message is empowered (anointed) to be carried out.
God anoints (empowers) whomever is needed to accomplish His divine message.
Those so empowered by God need nothing additional to carry out God's message.

Witness the remainder of the 9th chapter.
Witness the many battles of the Old Testament.
Witness the Lord Jesus' earthly ministry as a man.
Witness the early church.
Witness the apostle's work of the Lord.
not ashamed of the gospel of Christ for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone
that believeth. Rom. 1:16 power to become sons of God John 1: 12

vs.7 5) Sovereignly purposed.
(and thou shalt smite the house of Ahab, •.. )
God has granted for his Word a purpose which God wills.
Sometimes only God may understand that purpose.

God always has a purpose for his Word at any given time.
God's word always goes out with purpose--Isa. 55:1l.
        Depend upon God’s word.

In this passage, God specifically purposed some things to be accomplished.
God had empowered his Word sufficiently and those things were accomplished.
Likewise today, in our lives individually, as a family, as a church body, as a nation, God has
specifically purposed his will to be accomplished therein.
It is not something God hopes will come to pass, but will come to pass as God is allowed
(a choice given to men to yield to God) to direct his divine purpose.
(God will not violate the will of man, except at judgment time)
        Isa. 66:9 Isa. 50:2 Isa. 46: 11

vs.7-10 6) Precisely administered--measured out.
God's word precisely accomplishes his will.
There is no lack in the completeness of God's acts.

The Word of God goes to the right person, the right place, at the right time, having a sovereign
purpose and accomplishes precisely God's will and plan.

The word was carried out the very same as the instruction given.
God's word only works in an absolute relationship.

If man ever attempts to dilute it or change it, it no longer is God's word that man has,
for God's word cannot be changed.

God precisely measures out His word sufficient to accomplish his plan.
A believer will not receive all of God's word at one time, probably never, but
a believer will receive God's word sufficient for the carrying out of God's precise will for
        that believer’s life.
vs.14-37
7)  Fully executed.
There is nothing of God's divine instruction left undone.
It is done fully as God says.
It is carried out to the uttermost part.

When God is finished, there is no more to be finished.
All of the words of the Lord are like this.

We have in our Bibles a record of God's purpose and plan.
It will be fully executed as God provides in His word.

All prophecy will be fulfilled. Tribulation will come.
The rapture will occur. The great tribulation will come.

Judgment will fall upon every unsaved man.
God’s word shall be fully executed.

God's Control Job 38

Read the passage: Job 38

1) God is not threatened by man's assertions.
( V3 ... for I will demand of thee, and answer thou me. )

2) That which God has established is still in His hand.
( V8-11  the sea )
( 12-15 the morning )
( 22-23 snow and hail )

3) God is a God of purposes: His purpose remains.
( V15  from the wicked their light is withheld)
( v 27  to satisfy the desolate and waste ground)

4) God is not really in need of man's assistance.
( V28 - Hath the rain a father? )
( V29 - Out of whose womb came the ice? )

5) God's plan needs no alteration nor improvement.
( V33 - Knowest thou the ordinances of heaven )

6) God will not yield up His control.
( V 35 - Canst thou send lightnings, )

7) God's control is life's balance.
( V39 - Wilt thou hunt the prey for the lion? )
( V41 - Who provideth for the raven his prey? )

Because God is a God of purpose, He can bring to pass that which concerneth me.
Why should I doubt if God's promises are true? His word proves they are.
Why should I question God's timing? He has appointed its bounds.
Has God declared? Shall He not so do?
Has God spoken in vain?
Has God yielded up His control? God's word to my heart is sure.

The Trial of Your Faith-II 1 Peter 1: 7

Read the passage: 1 Peter 1

(That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, …might be found unto praise and honor and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ.

1. Those in Christ will have their faith tested.

2. Faith is tied to the sure word of God.

3. Testing will not mar the quality of the finish.

4. Faith so tied will honor Christ presently.

5. Faith so tried will be found continuing in its message.

6. Faith so tried will increase the conviction of its holder.

7. Such faith will be found unto honor and glory to Christ at His appearing.

The Calming Reassurance in a Struggle Psalms 9 10

Read the passage: Psalms  9

(And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou,Lord, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.)

1. God meant what He has promised to His child.

2. God has not forgotten what He has promised to His child.

3. God has not faltered in what He has promised to His child.

4. God has not failed to hear the petition of His child.

5. The greatest security is to one who is presently seeking the Lord.

6. God has not removed Himself from the task in any measure.
There is no discouraging of His hand. The opposition of men, the interference of men,
the slowness of mens' yielding, none of these discourages God.

7. God rewards continued trusting in His word.
God's abiding presence is evidence of His commitment to His servant and to the word
given to His servant.

Expectations That are Built Upon Certainty Numbers 34 2

Read the passage: Numbers 34

1) What God says is certain and can be relied upon.
(when ye come into the land of Canaan)

2) The fullest measure of assurance is available to a believer trusting in what God says.
(when ye come into the land of Canaan)

3) All future occurrences shall yield to God's will so His promises will be kept.
(when ye come into the land of Canaan)
Doubt is not a word in God's vocabulary.

4) God does not make 'iffy' promises to His children.
(when ye come)

5) God does not make promises to His children He doesn't intend to nor cannot fulfill.
(when ye come into the land of Canaan)

6) God often holds onto His promises for His people during a time when they refuse to hold onto them.
(the land of Canaan)
God's people at Kadesh refused to grab hold of God's promise, then the wilderness; here the promised land is still in God's hand.

7) Expectations built upon the sure promises of God will always be met.
A believer is not to build upon any other rock.
Unmet expectations are a common frustration to believers and result from their trusting in a wrong source, or the misinterpretation of circumstances, or what God said.
