What to Hold Onto Psalms 119: 31

Read the passage Psalms 119

(I have clung unto thy testimonies; O Lord, put me not to shame.)

1. A believer's need for security can only be met by the assurance of God's word.

2. A specific word from God quiets the questioning heart.

3. The revealed truth of scripture becomes a pier to tie your faith to.

4. The winds of time and of critics, or those who do not understand, cannot
dislodge the life of faith securely tied to the word of God.

5. The word held onto is the word God has given, not a word that man has stated.

6. There is no shame to God's word; nor to one who places His trust therein.
We don't have to apologize for the word of God or of its instruction to our
own heart. There is no shame.

7. Shame comes when a believer quits believing God's word or impatiently
asserts his own understanding before God's word.
Then, he no longer is holding onto God's word.

Worship's focus John 4: 24

Read the passage John 4

(God is a Spirit:  and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and
  truth.)

1. It excludes anything exalting man.

2. It excludes anything following just man's tradition.

3. It excludes worshiping man's own works.

4. It excludes anything unholy or worldly.

5. It excludes holding anything contrary to truth of scripture.

6. It excludes that without spirit initiation and spiritual order.

7. It excludes anything that is apart from God or His word of truth.

The Surprise Awaiting 2 John 20: 1, 2, 15, 16

Read the passage John 20

v.1 1. Troubling events mar spiritual liberty.
(The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet
  dark, unto the sepulcher,)

2. Spiritual loyalty is expressed with fade and hope
(unto the sepulcher, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulcher.)

v.1 3. Spiritual fellowship is based on only memory.
Jesus is gone seemingly.

v.1 4. The seeming certainty of a dead relationship is met with renewed
  opportunity.

v.1,  5. There is truth to believe, but doubt is a persistent enemy
2 (and seeth the stone taken away) (we know not where they have laid Him.)

v.11,6. Believers with lost hope are victimized by much sorrow.
15 (But Mary stood without at the sepulcher weeping:)(Jesus saith unto her,
Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou?)

v.16 7. Sorrow is turned to joy by the reality of truth's immortality and eternal life.
(Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto Him,
Rabboni; which is to say, Master.)
