The Priority of Remembering Worship Numbers 28 16-24

Read the passage: Numbers 28

Note: Observation is from a new testament perspective:

v.16 1. Worship is to remember God’s great providential work of redemption.
(And in the fourteenth day of the first month is the passover of the
  Lord.)

v.17 2. Sinlessness is the unmatched work in redemption.
(And in the fifteenth day of this month is the feast: seven days shall
unleavened bread be eaten.)

v.18 3. Holiness is the expression of reverence toward the work of redemption.
(In the first day shall be an holy convocation: ye shall …)

v.18 4. Freedom from human influence or human works is the clarity of the
                work of redemption.
(ye shall do no manner of servile work therein:)

We worship Jesus for who He is, what He alone has done

v.19-5. Worship involves giving as its evidence, giving up self priorities.
21 (But ye shall offer a sacrifice made by fire for a burnt offering unto
the Lord;  two young bullocks, and one ram, and seven lambs of the
first year:  they shall be unto you without blemish:)(And their meat
offering shall be of flour mingled with oil: three tenth deals shall ye
offer for a bullock, and two tenth deals for a ram;)(A several tenth deal
shalt thou offer for every lamb,  throughout the seven lambs:)

v.22 6. Freedom to worship has been granted because sin has once for all
                been atoned for in Christ.
(And one goat for a sin offering, to make an atonement for you.)

v.23,7. True worship is a humble expression of faith entreating God’s favor.
24        (Ye shall offer these beside the burnt offering in the morning, which
is for a continual burnt offering.)(After this manner ye shall offer
daily, throughout the seven days, the meat of the sacrifice made by
fire, of a sweet savor unto the Lord: it shall be offered beside the
continual burnt offering, and his drink offering.)

The Immateriality of Greatness Luke 22 24-30

Read the passage: Luke 22

v.24 1. The cross made man’s greatness insignificant.
(and there was also a strife among them, which of them should be
accounted the greatest.)

v.25 2. Greatness amongst men is an issue of earthly matter.
(The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them;)

v.26 3. The issue of the cross is dying to self acclaim.
(But ye shall not be so;)

v.26,4. The example of spiritual greatness is of Christ becoming a servant to all.
27 (…But I am among you as he that serveth)

v.26,5. Greatness is not the issue, humble service to Christ is.
27, (…But I am among you as he that serveth)
28 (Ye are they who have continued with me in my trials)
be faithful and loyal to Christ.
Who am I serving?

v.29 6. The reward for service is where greatness shall come.
(and I appoint unto you a kingdom, as my Father hath appointed unto me,)
We shall have a heavenly reward.

v.30 7. The measure of greatness to come will be heaven’s fellowship with Jesus.
(That ye may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones

Read the passage: John 18
Read the passage: John 19

These are pictures to us.

In Christ, so many blessings:

1. Free from confusion, our heart is freed by truth. Truth has set us free.
(18: 37,38 …Pilate saith unto him, What is truth?)
The world debates over truth.

2. Having greater determinate rule over us than the In God’s hand, not man's.
incompetent summations of men.  Eph. 1: 20
(18 39,40 But ye have a custom, …)
man is irresponsible;  appeals to what is right
the result with no truth

3. Knowing the heart of Christ is far greater than the Our life, His life.
container of evil so clearly exposed in men. His life, our life.
(19: 1, 4 …scourged, crown of thorns… Hail, …)

4. Covering, forgiving the vile, bitter, consumptive We are pardoned, forgiven.
hatred in the sinner’s heart.
(19: 5,6 Crucify Him, …)
as a believer 1 John 2: 16
7,8 how horrid is the hart of the sinner,
irresponsible, reprehensible

5. Free from man’s controlling conclusions. Jesus  is all powerful, for us.
(19:10 Speakest thou not unto me? Knowest thou
not that I have power to crucify thee,)
Revelation 1: 5, 6
To the enemy(ies) it is about control.

6. Unbridled by man’s prejudicial beliefs about our In Christ, that is our value.
value.
(19: 10 and have power to release thee?)
man’s view- we are always below the human controller-
i.e. politicians view; liberals view

7. Life free from man’s temporal formative influences. Life given from above.
(19: 11 thou couldest have no power at all against me,
except it were give thee from above:)

Hebrews 1: 2,3 Isaiah 61: 10; Eph. 2: 6, 7; 1 Peter 1: 3, 4

How Dead is Dead? Romans 6 6-8, 10

Read the passage: Romans 6

(Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with Him,) (now if we be dead with Christ,)
  1. You can entice the eye, but it won’t see.

  2. You can shout an appeal, but it won’t hear.

  3. You can appeal to the emotion, but it won’t respond.

  4. You can provoke to anger, but it won’t get angry.

  5. You can hurt it, but it won’t cry out.

  6. You can wrong it, but it won’t get offended; it has no right.

  7. You can bind it, but it can’t be bound; its source of life is Christ.
v.8, 10- it is free to live in Christ, death of the old self allows new life to follow--new life must come for true life to exist.
(Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe we shall also live with Him) (but in that He liveth, He liveth unto God.)
