Simple Truths Revealed Through the Resurrection Mark 16

Read the passage: Mark 16

  1. Sin has no virtue, nor victory.
Ch. 15 Though all the world represents it to be .Though men glamorize sin.

  2. Sin's debt will be paid- through redemption or judgment.
15: 27- And with Him they crucify two thieves; see also Luke 23: 39-43

The cross provided the payment for all who believe in Christ for salvation.
All rejecting Christ will most surely be judged in their unforgiven sin, all of it.

  3. Death's hold, apart from life given through Christ, is final. Romans 6:23
16: 1-3 And they said among themselves, Who shall roll us away the stone ...

  4. Death has no authority over the righteous.
16: 6- And he saith unto them, Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth,

which was crucified: He is risen; He is not here:
Nor does sin. sin =death Sin is powerless as well Romans 4: 8, 22-25; 6: 3-7,

That power passed from Christ to the believer.

  5. The power of God brings life to the dead positionally; the knowledge of the power of God brings fear to the heart first, then life practically.
v.8- And they went out quickly, and fled from the sepulcher; for they trembled and were amazed: neither said they any thing to any man; for they were afraid.
When a believer realizes the power of the resurrection, he really can live freely. Live in the power of the resurrection.
Practical- John 8: 32 Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Positional- John 8: 36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, you shall be
    free indeed.

  6. New life does not spring from death, but from life.
v.9- Now when Jesus was risen early the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene, out of whom He had cast seven devils. Luke 24: 5 Life from Jesus' life, the only life.
Mary Magdalene could not lose what she had been given.

    Romans 5: 10, 8: 11, 16, 17

  7. The barrier of unbelief is broken; that broken state is to be continued in, lest unbelief produce hardness of heart.
16: 13, 14- Afterward He appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and

upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen Him after He was risen.
Upbraiding of His disciples was very significant here, not often done.
Believer today- don’t permit a hardened heart.

  8. The message for every man, from man to man, need not change.
v.15- And He said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

  9. Opportunity for life is given to every man; he that believeth hath life.
v.15, 16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

John 11: 25 , 26 I am the resurrection and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were
dead, yet shall he live: and whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die.

    10. Such truth is sufficient for the believer until Jesus returns for the believer.
v.20- And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with
them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.
v.19 sufficient in representation, advocacy, intercession, provision
         v. 17, 18, 20 sufficient in ministry, in security 14: 62 sufficient until He returns

In the Cross-what we learn about Man John 18, 19

Read the passage: John 18, 19

In the betrayal 18: 1-8:
Loyalty of men is a commodity for sale to Believer purpose in your heart to be
the highest bidder                 a loyal follower of Jesus.

In the denial: 18: 15-18                 Believer don’t defer devotion and
Often the follower of Christ is not as making preparation for the unknown
prepared as he thinks he is; he often         challenge that lies ahead of you.
makes a stronger verbal and mental
commitment that is reality

before the high priest: 18: 19-25          Know how weak your flesh is. A
Man sees authority as an empowerment          humble heart is your only protection.
to his flesh.

Before Pilate: 18: 28-37                 The just shall live by faith.
Justice is not the choice of government,         Only through righteous living can a
Preservation of power is.          believer be just.
Focus on God’s justice, not man’s
                         Injustice.

Before the Religious: 19: 1-15          Avoid regulatory approaches to
Pride and rule bar interest in truth.          spirituality.
Tradition is honored above wisdom.  Avoid justification of man’s conduct
Fear is a leader of action.          apart from salvation of man’s heart.
Willfulness is displayed.

The cross: 19: 16-
The cruelty of man’s reason
The abandonment of what is right
The blindness of oppositional reasoning
The control of hatred and bitterness upon the soul
The ease with which men justify miserable, inexcusable conduct.
Violence in the heart will find an expression.
Pride won’t bow on its own.
Deceived men bind their own opportunity for liberty.
Government cannot reconcile itself with Christ’s changeless justice- nor can the religious.
Truth is met with mockery.
The walk is solitary.
Man’s fleshly side is cold, hard hearted, indifferent, vile, pretentious, wicked, evil.

All is an indication of a need for the cross. That is the truth the Father knew all along.

Today man is presented in a light offense sort of way. Sin is removed from his acknowledgment conveniently by a deceiver, the devil.

In the Cross, what we learn about Jesus john 17, 18, 19

Jesus’ Care:
John 17:
Jesus is deeply committed to His own.
v. 6 given the Father’s Name
v.8 given the Fathers’ s word
v.9 given the security of heaven’s prayer
v. 10 made a possessor of heaven.
v. 11 given the security of the Father’s Name v.13 kept by Jesus
v 15 commitment of Christ in presence of evil v. 17 set apart, maintained by Jesus’ word
v 18 sent to minister
v 21, 22 united to; in Christ
v 26 greatly, deeply loved

(all of this preparatory to the cross; preparation for any and all challenges which would be forthcoming to a follower and all followers of Christ.)

Jesus’ will:
His will unhindered:
By betrayal 18: 1-9
By weakness of the faith of His followers 18: 10-18
By false teachings and accompanying false accusations 18: 19-27

By hypocrisy and injustice
By the upbraiding of prideful men 18: 28-37
By man’s sentencing of death 18: 38-40
By man’s mockery 19: 1-

Jesus’ heart:
His deep loyalty to His Father John 17
His great strength against the summation and totality of evil- the cross
His great wisdom, not understood by men- before the Jews and Pilate Ch. 18, 19

His great capacity to endure man’s hypocrisy and deep wounding 19: 16
His identity with humanity, yet His irrevocable commitment to save. 19: 18
His great power of truth that will be fulfilled. 19: 24
His encompassing compassion 19: 25-27
His keeping of all promises, the fulfiller to the letter 19: 28, 30, 35
Enduring every shame, all bitterness, all hatred of men, anger vileness, ...

Jesus’ Distinctiveness
Man’s laws cannot contain righteousness, only the righteous one can. 19: 7
Death is man’s threat, eternal life is God’s gift. 19: 16
The pride of man has no eternal reach. 19: 4
Government reluctantly acknowledges religion 19: 12 to avoid having to recognize Christ.

Men falsely believe a King is installed by men. 19: 15
All world religions challenge the deity of Christ and only lie and deceive about sin; yet man’s sin cannot be refuted nor atoned for by any other than Jesus.
Only Jesus makes provision for eternity.
The cross reveals the great hypocrisy of man’s unbelief.

The devil hates the cross, as do all who follow after him.
The cross is such a strong defense to the child of God.

What Troubles Jesus John 11 33-38

Read the passage: John 11

God’s commitment as deliverer to us as His children encountering these doubts, fears, troublings; He is the resurrection, now.

When His children:

v.33 1. When they fail to see Him as God's Son.
(He groaned in the spirit, and was troubled,)

v.33 2. When they are needlessly troubled.
(When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, )

v.22 3. When they are overcome by inadequate trusting.

v.33 4. When there is failure to respond to the Spirit of Christ.
(...groaned in the spirit,)

v.36 5. When there is such misunderstanding of divine presence and purpose.
(Then said the Jews, Behold how He loved him! )

v.37 6. When they cannot accept Jesus and just believe in Him.
38 (And some of them said, Could not this man, ...)

v.38 7. When Jesus must over and again objectively reveal His deity.
(Jesus therefore again groaning in Himself cometh to the grave.)
He has to do something to help man's unbelief.

A Place to Remember Genesis 28 19

Read the passage: Genesis 28

(And he called the name of that place Bethel: but the name of that city was called Luz at the first.)
Bethel means house of God. Luz means turning aside.

1.The place where God overwhelmed your heart.

2.The place where you knew God was communicating to you specifically.

3.The place where God revealed His great plan for His work and ministry in your life.

4.The place where God literally changed your life.

5.The place where you felt God's empowerment.

6.The place where you made a life changing commitment to God and God's will.

7.The place your heart will return to again and again in praise and renewed commitment.

Don't be Like Peter, Be Like Peter John 13, 18, 21

Don’t Be Like Peter, Be Like Peter
John 13, 18, 21

13:37 1. Don’t try to do God’s work; do your work.
(Peter said unto Him, Lord, why cannot I follow thee now? I will lay down my
life for thy sake.)

13:38 2. Don’t trust in or rely on just your own ability.
(Jesus answered him, Wilt thou lay down thy life for my sake? Verily, verily, I
say unto thee, The cock shall not crow, till thou hast denied me thrice.)
18: 11 Don’t rely on first impulses to be spiritual.
(Then said Jesus unto Peter, Put up thy sword into the sheath: the cup
which my Father hath given me, shall I not drink it?)
Peter was acting upon his own understanding.

18: 27 3. Purpose in your heart to be loyal to Jesus, never to deny Him.
(Peter then denied again: and immediately the cock crew.)

21: 7 4. Don’t be afraid to abandon yourself to and upon Jesus, the rock of your
salvation. Believe Him for all Jesus says.
(Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved saith unto Peter, It is the Lord.
Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he girt his fisher’s coat
unto him, (for he was naked,) and did cast himself into the sea.)
(Simon Peter went up, and drew the net to land full of great fishes, a
hundred and fifty and three: and for all there were so many, yet was not the
net broken.)

21:         5. Receive the fullness of Jesus’ forgiveness, love Him fully, love His people
15-17, heartily, follow Him wholly.
19         (So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonah,
lovest thou me more than these? …Feed my lambs.…Feed my sheep.)
        (…Follow me.)

Acts          6. Rely upon the continual presence of the power of the Holy Spirit.
4: 8         (Then Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost, said unto them, Ye ruler of the
                        people, and elders of Israel,)

4: 13 7. Let your testimony be that you have been with Jesus.
(Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that
they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marveled; and they took
knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.)

The Reach of Man's Faith Romans 4 19

Read the passage: Romans 4

(And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, nether yet the deadness of Sarah’s womb:)
  1. It extends beyond the report of human facts.

  2. It extends beyond human limitations or bounds.

  3. It is not limited by things of physical appearance.

  4. It is not limited by man’s concurrence.
Others may not agree, but cannot limit faith.
There are times in which we may not fully agree nor understand, but God is the holder of faithfulness.

We hold faith; God holds faithfulness.

  5. It is not dead.

  6. It has no age limitations. what a joy to senior saints.

  7. It extends to God’s bounds.

1. To know that no matter how dark and dreary sin’s tragedies look, there is hope.

2. To have the purity that frees the heart.

3. To know that the stain of sin does not have to remain.

4. To know the blessedness of total forgiveness.

5. To have the conscience cleared of guilt.

6. To know the blessed Savior that cleanses from sin forever.

7. To be white as snow as I walk in the joy and obedience of His forgiveness.
I am totally free from condemnation.
Should I transgress I can be restored quickly to fellowship through the promise of 1John 1:9
