The Reward of Following After Christ Luke 18 28-30

Read the passage: Luke 18

v.28 1. There is a great desire for the believer to be included in the possibility and
not in the impossibility.
(Then Peter said, Lo, we have left all, and followed thee.)
responding to v. 22

v.29 2. The follower of Jesus must place Jesus first as His priority.
(And He said unto them, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left
house, or parents, or brethren, or wife, or children, for the kingdom of God’s
sake,)

v.29 3. It is the kingdom of God which is everlasting; the believer is privileged to
be part of this everlasting kingdom.
(for the kingdom of God’s sake,)

v.30 4. The follower of Christ will be rewarded by Christ.
(Who shall not receive manifold more in this present time, and in the world
  to come life everlasting.)

v.30 5. To forsake all for Christ is to gain far more of Christ and from Christ.

6. To hold onto the world is to perish with the world.
see v. 22, 23

7. To gain Christ is to have all He is for all of eternity; to deny Christ is to
have nothing for all eternity.
in a sinner’s hell with the devil and his demons

Having Your Prayers Answered Luke 8 51-56

Read the passage: Luke 8

v.41 1. What a blessing to ask of Jesus.
(and he fell down at Jesus’ feet, and besought Him that He would come
into his house: …)

v.51 2. What a blessing to be present when Jesus works His work.
(and the father and the mother of the maiden.)

v.52 3. What a blessing to not be overcome with the barriers and limitations of the
fearful and unbelieving.
(And all wept, and bewailed her? …)

v.54 4. What a blessing to witness the power of God’s hand.
(And took her by the hand, and called, saying, Maid arise.)
Why didn’t Jesus use her earthly name?

tell no man what was done.)

The Blessing of Leftovers-II Mark 8 8

Read the passage: Mark 8

(So they did eat and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets.)
Where there is more than enough.

1. It reveals God’s unlimited capacity though we see limited opportunity.
(v.4-From whence can a man satisfy these men …)

2. It reveals the ready presence of God’s supply.
(v.7-And they had a few small fishes: and he blessed, …)
They didn’t have to work it up; do it out themselves.

3. It reveals God’s greaterness than the greatness of the need(s).

4. It reveals the security of being in Christ’s presence.
The wilderness is no threat if a believer is with Jesus.
It shows the necessity of Christ’s presence in ministry.

5. It reveals the basis of Christ’s invited partaking-grace, and the adequacy of it.
Not all responded-all were extended grace.

6. It reveals the intent of God’s provision- the fullness of men.
Believers need understand this  truth.
John 10: 10

7. It reveals the continuity of man’s need; he cannot survive on leftovers, but must have a fresh supply of God’s provision.
Jesus was revealing Himself to be the bread of life; the sustainer of man’s heart.
Man couldn’t make it happen again.
There was no formula left, only the person of Jesus revealed.

Sufficient Care Matthew 6 25-31

Read the passage: Matthew 6

v 25 1) God has a higher ground for His children to gain than concern or anxiety for physical needs of care.
(be not anxious) ••• for eat, drink, clothes.

V 25 2) God desires to take His children to greater realms of faith-to gather spiritual gain.
(is not life more than food and the body than rainment?)

v 26 3) Man is not capable of gaining God's higher ground by his own efforts.
(they sow not ••• )
 doesn't depend upon man

v 26 4) God's care for creatures is adequate, why not for His own children?
(behold ••• are ye not much better than they?)

v 27 5) Man cannot attain God's greater realm unless God chooses to give it.

V 28 6) True growth can only come from God.
 ( … how they grow)

V 29 7) Even Solomon did not attain the full manifestation of God's glory for man.
(even Solomon, in all his glory, was not arrayed like one of these. )

(the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, … )

v 30 9) The testimony of God's sufficiency is convincingly apparent to the faithful.
(0 ye of little faith)

v 3110) God is sufficiently able in care of His own and in taking them to the heights of His glory.

Christ's Message-abundance of Heart Luke 6 45

Read the passage: Luke 6

(A good man out of the good measure of his heart bringeth forth that which
is good: and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth
that which is evil; for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.)

1. The heart is to be protected by the believer.

2. What is continually placed into or allowed in the heart is of critical influence
on the expressions of that life.

3. When a believer defiles the temple, he will have a mixed message; his
heart is not full of the abundance of scriptures.

4. Only that which comes from Jesus is truly abundant.
John  10: 10

5. The treasures of a lost man’s heart are worldly and may be of abundant
worldly proportion, but not of spiritual proportion.

6. The believer is to speak, that is to minister, always from an abundant
position, that is a full heart from Christ.

7. There is always certainty of ministry from a truly abundant heart, one in
fellowship with the Savior.
