Christ's Teachings-The Light of Christ Luke 11: 33, 34

click to Read the passage: Luke 11  (a new browser window will open)

v.33 1. Light is to benefit another’s life.
(No man, when he hath lighted a candle, putteth it in a secret place, neither
under a bushel, but on a candlestick, that they which come in may see the
light.)

v.33 2. Light is not to be covered over.

v.34 3. The eye of man reveals his condition with God.
what he sees
(The light of the body is the eye: therefore when thine eye is single, thy
whole body also is full of light; but when thine eye is evil, thy body also is
full of darkness.)

v.34 4. The presence of God will be revealed as the source of light in a believer’s
life.
The light (desire) of his life.

v.34 5. The eye of the unbeliever will only reveal the darkness present there.
Avoid only emphasizing the eye itself. Jesus is talking about spiritual truth
that has evidence in a life.
The eye of a believer receives the light of Jesus; sees spiritually by that light.

v.34, 6. Darkness is evidence of destruction (evil) present and forthcoming- no hope
35 of light, full of darkness.
(Take heed therefore that the light which is in thee be not darkness.)

v.36 7. The fullness of Christ abiding in a life gives it brightness throughout (in
every life expression).

Decisions Not Needing Revising Psalms 119: 106

click to Read the passage: Psalms 119  (a new browser window will open)

(I have sworn, and I will perform it, that I will keep thy righteous judgments.)

            1.            The decision to totally give your life to Christ.
                           The decision is right.
Because of careless behavior, there may be a need to recommit one’s life
to Christ. That is just a recommitment to a decision already made.

            2.            The decision to love God with all your heart.

            3.            The decision to seek God in all things.

            4.            The decision to love and follow God’s word.

            5.            The decision that God is always right; there is no reason to question God.

            6.            The commitment to keep God’s statutes.

            7.            The decision to faithfully perform all responsibilities God gives.
                           i. e. marriage, parenting, employee, church, etc.

v.21 1. Natural strength alone is not adequate protection for a man.
While one’s strength exceeds another, there will only appear to be peace.
(When a strong man armed keepeth his palace, his goods are in peace:)

v.22 2. When one stronger comes along peace is stolen away.
(But when a stronger that he shall come upon him, and overcome him, he
taketh from him all his armour wherein he trusted, and divideth his spoils.)

v.22 3. That which man puts his trust in is taken away.

v.22 4. Man can have many enemies stronger than himself, lust, passion, pride,
greed, addiction, …)
They take away his spoils.

5. It is God’s strength that is the superior strength.
Pray for strength in resisting temptation. 1 Corin. 10: 13

6. It is God’s strength that secures peace.
Acknowledge your weakness (identify if you know)- yield to God’s greater
strength. 2 Corin.12:9
Seek God and His strength. 1 Chronicles 16: 11

7. Trust in God’s strength brings everlasting security of peace.
Don’t rely upon any other strength.  Psalms 33: 16-21 Psalms 71: 16
Psalms 119: 28; 27: 14, 31:24 Nehemiah 6: 9
