Personalizing the Message Daniel 2: 29-36

Read the passage Daniel 2

1)  It is amazing that God would share His secrets with His servant; it is even more amazing that He would share His secret with a lost king.
29 As for thee, O king, thy thoughts came into thy mind upon thy bed, what should come to pass hereafter: and he that revealeth secrets maketh known to thee what shall come to pass.

2)  Only God may predict the future in the present time.

3)  God’s wisdom and foreknowledge is unique to Him alone, a wise servant is loyal to God.
30 But as for me, this secret is not revealed to me for any wisdom that I have more than any living, but for their sakes that shall make known the interpretation to the king, and that thou mightest know the thoughts of thy heart.

4)  God’s knowledge forms a base of understanding for times to come in the time of God’s choosing.
31 Thou, O king, sawest, and behold a great image. This great image, whose brightness was excellent, stood before thee; and the form thereof was terrible.

5)  Jesus is King of Kings and the Lord of glory; He alone is the wisdom of time and the predictor of human events and the one to whom all men be they great or small must bow and give account to for their sin; images of men pass away, the true God lives forever.
34 Thou sawest till that a stone was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and brake them to pieces.

6)  There is coming upon the earth a time of judgment for sin; Jesus is that judge who will crush all false leaders and those who follow them; only those who trust in Jesus for salvation will be spared.
35 Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold, broken to pieces together, and became like the chaff of the summer threshing floors; and the wind carried them away, that no place was found for them: and the stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth.

7)   God speaks beyond one’s life, beyond earthly kings; beyond time, clearly manifesting the sovereignty of His rule throughout human history; God is greater than man’s history.
36 This is the dream; and we will tell the interpretation thereof before the king.

Compelling Reasons for Giving Thanks 2 Kings 7

Read the passage 2 Kings 7
1. God doesn’t forget the needs of His people.
Here his people were confined within the walls of the city because of the siege of
                the enemy.

v.4 2. God may have His people shut in to Himself, but His supply is not shut in.
(…the host of the Syrians)

v.1 3. God’s word arrives on time. His people may not even be aware of it.
(Then Elisha said, Hear ye the word of the Lord; Thus saith the Lord, tomorrow
about this time shall a measure of fine flour be sold for a shekel, and two
measures of barley for a shekel, in the gate of Samaria.)

v.5- 4. God makes known His provision to His people. (sometimes in unanticipated
                ways)
(And they rose up in the twilight, to go unto the camp of the Syrians: …v.8- they
went into one tent, and did eat and drink, and carried thence silver, and gold, and raiment,
and went and hid it; …)

v.5- 5. God’s supply is most generous; His hand most  mighty.
(v.6- For the Lord had made the host of the Syrians to hear a noise of chariots, …
v.8- …)

v.9, 6. When God’s supply arrives it is a time of good tidings.
16 (Then they said one to another, We do not well: this day is a day of good
tidings,…v.16-And the people went out, and spoiled the tents of the Syrians.)

v.12 7. God is greater than the fears and doubts of His people; a lesson for His people to
                 learn.
(And the king arose in the night, and said unto his servants, I will now show you
what the Syrians have done to us. They know that we be hungry; therefore are
they gone out of the camp to hide themselves in the field, saying, When they
come out of the city, we shall catch them alive, and get into the city.)

v.6, 8. God is greater than the enemy of His people. Another lesson for His people to
                learn.
15 (For the Lord had made the host of the Syrians to hear a noise of chariots, and a
noise of horses, even the noise of a great host: and they said one to another, Lo, the King of
Israel hath hired against us the kings of the Hittites, and the kings of the Egyptians, to come
                upon us.)
(And they went after them unto Jordan: and, lo, all the way was full of garments
and vessels, which the Syrians had cast away in their haste.)

v.16 9. God greatly increases the faith of His people by the grace and power of His
                hand.
(And the people went out,  and spoiled the tents of the  Syrians.)

v.16 10. God keeps the word of His choosing for the people of His choosing.
(So a measure of fine flour was sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for
a shekel, according to the word of the Lord.)

The Irrevocable Message Daniel 5: 5, 24-31

Read the passage Daniel 5

1) God’s hand is a supernatural hand.
5 In the same hour came forth fingers of a man's hand, and wrote over against the candlestick upon the plaister of the wall of the king's palace: and the king saw the part of the hand that wrote.

2)  What God records about a man cannot be rubbed off.
24 Then was the part of the hand sent from him; and this writing was written.

3) What God records about a man is not changeable.
25 And this is the writing that was written, Mene, Mene, Tekel, Upharsin.

4) God may cut off life’s opportunity at any time.
26 This is the interpretation of the thing: Mene; God hath numbered thy kingdom, and finished it.

5) All men are totally accountable to God for their life’s doings.
27 Tekel; Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting.

6) Man causes division, but God is the divider of man and of man’s rule and possessions.
28 Peres; Thy kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians.

7)  Man faces an ending over which he has no rule nor appeal; a great price is paid for denying God.
30 In that night was Belshazzar the king of the Chaldeans slain.
31 And Darius the Median took the kingdom, being about threescore and two years old.

The Place of Blessing Numbers 13-14: 9

Read the passage Numbers 13
Read the passage Numbers 14

Looking at the promise as God gave it, not as Israel saw it.

Our challenge: not what we see but what we don’t see; often what we see
causes us halt. We need to see what God sees.

v.2 1. A place given of God; given to/for the people of God.
v.4-16 (And the Lord spoke unto Moses, saying,) ( Send thou men that they may search
the land of Canaan, which I give unto the children of Israel: )…

v.4-16,2. A place meant to give courage and strength to the faith of God’s people.
20 (and be ye of good courage, )

v.17-3. A place of inspiration- inspiring the hearts of God’s people to behold and know
20,25 the larger plan of God.
(…(and see the land, what it is; …)

v.23,4. A place where fruitfulness is presently validated and prospectively suggested-
                 a place of plenty.
24, 26,27 (And they came unto the brook of Eschol, and cut down from thence a branch
with one cluster of grapes, and they bare it between two upon a staff; and they
brought of the pomegranates, and of the figs.)

v.28- 5. A  place where victory awaiteth those with claims of faith.
(Nevertheless the people be strong that dwell in the land, and the cities are
  walled, and very great: …)

v.29 6. A place for the dwelling of many.
(The Amalekites dwell in the land of the south, …the mountains: …by the sea,
and by the coast of Jordan.)
It was a large land as God promised elsewhere.

v.30 7. A place readily available and needing a ready response by God’s people.
(And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and
possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.)

v.31,8. A place that must be viewed with God’s vision, God’s eyes.
32 (But the men that went up with them said, We be not able to go up against the
people; for they are stronger than we.) …
Some see only the challenge.
Some see the worthiness of God and His will.

14:1-9. A place needing the voice of faith amongst God’s people for them to move
forward.
(And all the congregation lifted up their voice, and  cried, and the people wept
that night.)…

14:7 10. A place that  is an exceeding good land, worth fighting for.
(And they spoke unto all the company of the children of Israel, saying, The land,
which we passed through to search it, is an exceeding good land.)

v.8 11. A place which  is a testimony of God’s delight- to give, to be the provider, to
  increase.
(If the Lord delight in us, then He will bring us into this land, and give it us; a
land which floweth with milk and honey.)

v.9 12. A place where fear does not rule, nor betray.
(Only rebel not ye against the Lord, neither fear ye the people of the land; for
they are bread for us: their defense is departed from them, and the Lord is with
us: fear them not.)

v.7 13. A place that tests the believer’s views of God.
God’s worthiness,; His trustworthiness; His power; His promises; His leading; His
  commitment; His ability; His love.

v.8 14. A place full of blessing; of full blessing
4 (If the Lord delight in us, then He will bring us into this land, and give it
us; a land which floweth with milk and honey.)
