What a Culture Loses Not Acknowledging God and Marriage Ephesians 5 22, 23

Read the passage: Ephesians 5

v.22, 1. It loses loyalty.
23(Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.)

Women have no loyalty to their own calling but pursue another.
They lose loyalty to their husband alone and become directly exposed to vain and worldly influences.
Children are not taught the positions of authority.

Not knowing and understanding authority, rebellion follows.

v,25 2. Love is not modeled.
(Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave Himself for it.)
not to the woman, not to the children, not to the world. The world loves its pets, its things.
People become selfish and self centered. The world revolves around individual’s rights, perhaps civil rights. Care for others becomes lost.

v.24 3. Independent domineering spirits arise.
(Wives submit yourselves unto your own husbands, and unto the Lord) (Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, )
No one wants to hear no. The negatives of life are removed. The home no longer acts as the protector of basic beliefs and truths.

v.26 4. Dirty living is in vogue.
(That He might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word.)

Anything goes. Man defines sexuality in new ways. Vivid grotesque and harmful images become free expression.

v.27 5. Unholiness is the norm for the world certainly, but it also darkens the church.
(That He might present it to Himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing: but that it would be holy and without blemish.)
The church looks and acts like the world.
It loses its modesty. It loses its discernment. It debates over sin. It doesn’t like righteousness because it is too convicting. It imitates the world and desires the world’s pleasures.

v.29 6. Men lose respect for life.
(For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:)

Life relationships are minimized. Debates are pretentious. All kinds of death and violent depictions become acceptable. Violent deaths are the norm.

v.32 7. There remains no concern nor care for God and His ways.
(This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.)

Religion rules. It rules against Christ and His people. God is removed from life.
