What Gives God Glory John 11: 4

click to Read the passage: JOHN 11  (a new browser window will open)

(....This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, ...)

In principle:

1. When a believer has a need greater than his own power.

2. When a believer has a need he cannot overcome.

3. When a believer's need is hopeless.
One day the messenger travels from Bethany; Jesus tarries two; the next day
Jesus travels to Bethany.  Lazarus had been dead 4 days.  Jesus did not tarry
waiting for him to die.

Some Jews believed the soul hovered near the body for three days hoping to
reinhabit the body.  By the fourth day it abandoned hope and left.  Perhaps
Jesus tarried so they would not argue against his resurrecting Lazarus.

4. When a believer has a need and looks only to Jesus for supply.

5. When a believer fits into the eternal plan of God.

6. When a believer allows Christ to fully rule.

7. When Jesus does what only Jesus can do.
