Set Up Genesis 38: 18-26

            Sin is very grievous for God’s child.

v.18     1.A pledge to sin is a foolish pledge.

            ( and he gave it her,....)

v.18     2.A secret delight will become an open confession later.

            ( and she conceived by him,)

v.19     3.Man cannot control the outcome of sin's actions.

            ( And she arose, and went away,....)

v.20    4.Man's efforts to cover up his sin will not work.

            ( And Judah sent the kid by the hand of his friend but he found her not.)

v.21     5.A sinner looks foolish when he attempts to free himself.

            ( ... and they said, there was no harlot in this place,)

v.23     6.A sinner fearing shame has already borne shame.

            ( and Judah said, Let her take it to her, lest we be shamed.....)

v.25,    7.Sin is so clearly identified with the guilty offender that there is no

    26        escape.
               ( whose are these, the signet, .... and Judah acknowledged them,)
