v 5 1) Prayer is not an activity, but communion with God.
(for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and at the corners of the streets, ... )

v 5 2) The purpose of prayer is not to gain the attention of man, but the fellowship of God.
(for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and at the corners of the streets, …)

v 5 3) Prayers of emptiness and filled with only humanity receive empty answers  filled
only with the doubtings and troublings of humanity.
(Verily, I say unto you, they have their reward.)
          Unbelief is filled with emptiness.
Trust is filled with Kingdom riches.

v 6 4) Prayer is complete when only God is present with His child.

v 6 5) God hears prayer in private but grants answers openly.
          (shall reward thee openly)
One may see answered prayer and testify of the answers, the focus is not oneself.

v 6 6) True prayer will be validated by God.
          (reward)

v 7 7) God's interest is in what is said not how much is said.

v 8 8) True prayer does not make vain repetition but has continuous fresh inspiration
           and anointing.
(be not ye, therefore, like unto them)

v 8 9) True prayer is not to gain man's answers but the blessing of God's presence.
          (your Father knoweth ... )

v 8 10) True prayer rests in God's wisdom and timing of provision.
( ... what things ye have need of, before ye ask him)
